STATEMENT FROM DREAM ON ME REGARDING GOVERNOR CHRISTIE’S ACTION

“We applaud the well-reasoned action taken by Governor Christie today to stop this legislation from becoming law in New Jersey. While we don’t question that the Legislature’s ban on the sale of supplemental play yard mattresses was well intentioned, it was however, misguided — based on emotion rather than fact.

The carefully thought and well-reasoned conditional veto takes note of the scientific analysis from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and suggests that New Jersey follow the mandatory safety standards developed by the CPSC while at the same time saving over 150 New Jersey manufacturing jobs.

We agree that New Jersey should follow the careful recommendation of the CPSC, which prudently decided not to ban supplemental mattresses but to develop national safety standards that we hope the Dream On Me custom fit mattress will be the model for.”
