Statement on Facility Cooling System at the Bergen County Jail

Hackensack, N.J. – The Bergen County Jail is currently undergoing repairs for mechanical issues with the HVAC system leaving part of the facility with limited cooling. Sheriff Anthony Cureton is actively monitoring the situation with Bergen County Sheriff Office personnel. Emergency cooling accommodations have been taken to ensure a suitable environment for inmates and staff including the implementation of temporary cooling locations and housing reassignments within the facility. Any reports of heat related symptoms will be treated by medical unit staff at the Jail.
