Statement from Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios regarding the Menlo Park Veterans Home

“Like many, I listened closely to the testimony provided during last week’s Joint Senate and Assembly Hearing which discussed the impact of COVID-19 on long-term care facilities.  This pandemic exposed the clear need for additional oversight of long-term care facilities, and I commend the Legislature for pursuing this.  I found the testimony shared by families and residents of the Menlo Park Veterans Home in Edison to be alarming and tragic.  This testimony has made it clear to me that the leadership of this facility is not equipped to handle this pandemic, and that the CEO of Menlo Park Veteran’s Home must resign.  Our veterans have served and protected us with honor, and those in this facility deserved better care.”
