Statement from Governor Murphy on the Retirement of Senator Nick Sacco from the State Senate

TRENTON – Governor Phil Murphy today issued the following statement on the retirement of Senator Nick Sacco from the State Senate:

“Nick Sacco has served the people of Hudson County with distinction for decades, including for the past 28 years as State Senator.

“During his time in the Legislature, Senator Sacco helped pass legislation to expand the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) Program, fostering economic development in urban areas and bringing much needed investment to communities like North Bergen. He also supported legislation to expand the use of DNA testing in criminal cases, giving law enforcement a critical tool to help solve crimes.

“With an over 50-year public service career in education administration and a 31-year tenure as Mayor of North Bergen, Nick has devoted his life to making Hudson County a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I know he’ll continue serving the people of North Bergen well as Mayor, and I look forward to continuing to work together on our shared priorities.”
