Governor Signs Legislation to Enable P3s to Improve Infrastructure and Development Projects, Create Good-Paying Jobs

“We’re pleased with Governor Murphy’s signing today of legislation to expand public-private partnerships in New Jersey. Our infrastructure systems are in dire need of repair and funding, and public-private partnerships offer the private sector an effective and credible way to contribute and invest in them and other key projects. The bill’s provisions to create good-paying jobs, ensure prevailing wage requirements are met and encourage project labor agreements will help boost employment in our state and will directly improve the lives of hardworking New Jerseyans.

We applaud Senate President Sweeney, Senator Oroho, and Assembly leaders Coughlin and Greenwald for championing this bipartisan solution and sponsoring the legislation. We’d also like to thank the ACCNJ for raising the visibility of this issue and supporting this cause.”

Governor Signs Legislation to Enable P3s for Infrastructure and Other Projects, Create Jobs and Sustain Economic Growth

“Governor Murphy’s signing today of legislation permitting a wider array of public-private partnerships in New Jersey is an important step forward in improving our state’s infrastructure and encouraging economic investment. By increasing available funding options, allowing the private sector to participate in infrastructure financing and incentivizing investments in a wide range of projects, this legislation will help catalyze our economy. Public-private agreements like these have a long track record of success and this legislation is designed to make the most of them. Even better, the bill contains several provisions to create good-paying jobs, including prevailing wage requirements and project labor agreements.

The bill’s sponsors and champions in the legislature – including State Senator Steve Oroho, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald and Speaker Craig Coughlin –  rightly recognize the benefits this approach will bring to the state of New Jersey and worked hard to make this solution a reality. We also thank the Associated Construction Contractors of New Jersey for their leadership on this issue.”
