Statement by Larry White, executive director, NJSIAA

Statement by Larry White, executive director, NJSIAA (New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association)

November 21, 2019

“Yesterday was filled with a range of emotions. We were saddened by the passing of 10-year-old Micah Tennant; grateful for the tremendous support by Philadelphia Eagles President Don Smolenski and his entire organization; appreciative of the diligence and professionalism of the law enforcement community; and proud of our student athletes for their commitment and passion. For the remainder of the NJSIAA football playoffs, we will ask that all teams hold a unified moment of silence to acknowledge the tragic passing of a young fan and to embrace the courageous spirit we experienced in the wake of this incident. “
