Statement from Mark Longo on NJTransit/FTA Record of Decision on NJTransit Resiliency Power Plant

(Springfield, NJ) – Mark Longo, Director of Engineers Labor-Employer Cooperative 825, released the following statement about today’s “Combined Final Environmental Impact Statement and Record of Decision” from New Jersey Transit and the Federal Transportation Authority on building a resiliency power plant in the Meadowlands for New Jersey Transit.

“ELEC825 applauds today’s decision by NJTransit and the Federal Transportation Authority on moving forward with the building of a natural gas resiliency plant for NJTransit. New Jersey is no stranger to weather-related emergencies, and we must do everything we can to keep our trains running on time. Building a natural gas resiliency plant – with affordable and reliable natural gas – is a win-win for New Jersey, NJTransit, and our tens of thousands of commuters.”
