Statement from Mayor Wilda Diaz after receiving endorsement of Councilman Fernando Irizarry via Facebook post:
“For the past eight years, Fernando Irizarry has been a thoughtful and independent voice on the Perth Amboy City Council. As a pastor and a teacher, Councilman Irizarry added a unique voice to our city government.
Councilman Irizarry and I agreed on many things, and when we disagreed, it was done with the utmost respect and constructive debate. We both are grounded by an unwavering drive to do what is best for the City of Perth Amboy. I am grateful for his endorsement and look forward to his continued contributions to our community.
As we are quickly approaching Election Day, Pastor Bernadette, Junior, and I will continue our efforts to earn the support from all segments of our community. This maxelection is not about us as individuals, it’s about who is most qualified and fit to lead this city.”
