Statement from NJDSC Vice Chairwoman Lizette Delgado-Polanco Regarding Bob Hugin’s Silence on Racist Remarks

New Jersey Democratic State Committee Vice Chairwoman Lizette Delgado-Polanco issued the following statement after Bob Hugin has failed to condemn Berkeley Council President James Byrnes’ racist remarks:

“Bob Hugin’s silence after this blatantly racist remark was made at his event should be a wake up call to all New Jersey residents that Hugin is the absolute wrong choice to represent our state in the Senate. This kind of divisive rhetoric that Donald Trump’s Republican party has embraced is antithetical to the values of diversity and opportunity that we all share and that Bob Menendez has spent his life fighting for. Hugin should be ashamed of himself and anyone who stands against racism and xenophobia must realize that there is only one candidate for Senate who will represent our values, and that’s Senator Menendez.”
