Statement of Endorsement from South Ward Democratic Chairman/South Ward Councilman Patrick O. Council

Newark, NJ – February 3, 2025 – It has become increasingly clear that New Jersey needs a visionary leader with voice and purpose for the people at this critical time. Mayor Baraka is charged to take New Jersey to higher heights. New Jersey needs a transformative, progressive and focused leader that will keep this state prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

Mayor Baraka just does not have a plan for New Jersey but a plan for urban cities across this state which will continue to fuel the growth, development and economic mobility of this great state we live in. The work that he has accomplished is not just moving Newark forward but also moving people forward. This is a testament to his ability to pull together broad coalitions of people working toward common goals and producing great outcomes for all.

As Chairman and Councilman, I have witnessed firsthand how Mayor Baraka runs to issues and not away from them. Issues of affordability, infrastructure, transportation, education and the empowerment/rights for all.

Mayor Baraka has become the voice of those crying out in the wilderness for a better, safer, stronger and united New Jersey. It’s his moment! It’s our time to Reimagine New Jersey!
