STATEMENT FROM THE QUINTON LAW FOR MOORESTOWN COUNCIL CAMPAIGN: MOORESTOWN REPUBLICAN COUNCIL CANDIDATE DECLINES TO DEBATE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

With just 6 weeks to go until the election, Councilman Law has been continuing to work hard to speak
to voters across town about the issues most important to them. As part of that voter outreach, as in
previous Town Council elections, Councilman Law was looking forward to debating these issues with
the Republican nominee in a fair, neutral moderated format.

“We believe it’s vital for Moorestown to have a chance to hear the candidates debate,” said Kate
Wilson, Chair of the Moorestown Democrats. “We have two candidates who have both said they want
to run on the issues and avoid negative personal campaigning, which is fantastic – we all have to live
together in this town. Given this, it is even more disappointing that the Republican candidate and his
team have declined the opportunity to be part of this important issues-based discussion”.

Candidate debates occurred during the last two election cycles. In 2020, the Candidate Forum was
watched by over 1,000 people, indicating that this format is an important platform for Moorestonians
to be able to see the different perspectives candidates have on key township issues. Councilman Law
initially extended an offer for a debate to the Republican candidate both personally and in local news
outlets following his announcement this spring, and as the current Vice Chair of the Moorestown
Republicans said in the Burlington County Times (2/24), “Debate is healthy in a democracy”.

“It’s not too late for this event to happen this year”, said Wilson, “We’ve reached out to potential hosts
and moderating groups that are run by local Republicans and Democrats, and they were willing to help
make this a reality.”

“I believe this is a chance to show that here in Moorestown, Democrats and Republicans can sit down
and respectfully debate the issues affecting our community,” Councilman Quinton Law said.
Councilman Law remains committed to answering tough questions from voters of any and all political
affiliations, whether out in the community or in Town Hall. A Zoom webinar event will be held on
October 20th from 7:30 to 8:30 PM, live-streamed on Facebook, and Moorestonians are invited to dial
in and ask Councilman Law about the issues that he is hearing are most important to all
Moorestonians.
