NJ Department of Health Grants Initial Approval to License Six New Medical Marijuana Alternative Treatment Centers

Trenton, NJ—Today, the New Jersey Department of Health granted initial approval for six new licenses to operate medical marijuana alternative treatment centers (ATCs) in New Jersey. This move comes after almost 150 applications for licenses were received by the New Jersey Department of Health earlier this year.  The current ATCs serve 38,000 patients.  

Roseanne Scotti, New Jersey State Director of the Drug Policy Alliance, issued the following statement after today’s announcement:

“We are very excited by the New Jersey Department of Health’s announcement granting initial approval for six new licenses for medical marijuana alternative treatment centers (ATCs) in New Jersey. For too long, medical marijuana patients across the state have been underserved due to the lack of ATCs. Today’s actions will expand much-needed access to the medicine that best relieves the suffering and improves the quality of life for thousands of patients.

“We look forward to the opening of these new ATCs, as well as further efforts by the New Jersey Department of Health to create a more robust, patient-centered medical marijuana program in New Jersey.”
