Statement from Senate President Sweeney on the Death of Former State Senator Hank McNamara

“The passing of Hank McNamara is a loss to the State of New Jersey and also a deep personal loss. He was a great colleague in the Legislature, part of a generation of public servants who could be true to their political beliefs while remaining true to themselves.

“Hank understood that government should serve it constituents. He championed a widely popular program that helped average homeowners replace underground oil tanks before their failed, saving homeowners money and protecting the environment from spills.

“People expect public officials to look out for them and Hank did that ably in the Senate. He was a class act, a good man and I will miss him.

“I offer my deepest sympathies to Hank’s family at this time.”
