Statement from Sumter on Budget Vote
(TRENTON) – Assembly Majority Conference Leader Shavonda E. Sumter (D-Bergen, Passaic) on today’s budget vote:
“We have a job to do. We cannot continue to be distracted by the Horizon bill. There are real consequences for New Jersey’s citizens, especially for working class families if we do. A government shut down will put residents out of work and cut off vital services for those in need. This is unnecessary if we simply focus on doing what is right for New Jersey.
“Our duties as legislators are to pass a responsible budget that focuses on the priorities that are important to all New Jerseyans. The Horizon bill should be a separate discussion on another day that does not interfere with today’s vote.”
