Statement from Vision Zero New Jersey Alliance on Murphy Administration’s Increase in Funding for Walking & Bicycling Infrastructure

“The recent announcements from the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Murphy Administration regarding the increase in funding for the Safe Streets to Transit, Bikeways, and Transit Village programs – $16.5M going to 44 communities across NJ – is very encouraging. Coming on the heels of a historically deadly year for people walking and bicycling in New Jersey, this is an important time to take this step.”

“This funding is critically needed to advance projects that make the streets safer for everyone, especially for our most vulnerable road users. Ensuring safe access to public transit as well as creating a walkable and bikeable state is key to creating a New Jersey that is equitable, just, and sustainable. We commend the NJDOT and Murphy Administration for funding this new group of projects and look forward to increasing opportunities like these to fund much-needed active transportation projects.”
