Statewide Coalition Launches in Support of a New Jersey Clean Energy Future
The New Jersey Campaign for a Clean Energy Future (CCEF) is a statewide coalition of community organizations and leaders committed to advancing New Jersey’s clean energy future.
New Jersey has set sweeping goals that will create a cleaner, better energy future for all New Jerseyans. Just as important, the state has created a roadmap to achieve these goals. CCEF is dedicated to ensuring New Jersey follows this roadmap and stays on path. By sharing the vision created by New Jersey’s leadership and building momentum for the policies that underpin this vision, CCEF will help the state achieve energy goals that will build a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.
“Governor Murphy and the New Jersey state legislature have shown the type of ambitious, inspiring leadership we need to tackle the climate change crisis, but there’s still a long way to go to ensure this plan is enacted,” said John Harmon, Founder, President, and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey in a statement announcing CCEF. “Our job will be to educate New Jersey citizens about the benefits of this plan, including the thousands of new clean energy and energy efficiency construction jobs it will bring. Together, we can make sure New Jersey hits the ground running and works towards a clean energy future.”
The Energy Master Plan provides a path to reach Governor Murphy’s goal of 100 percent clean energy, ensuring the state remains inclusive of all New Jersey’s communities throughout this process. The plan’s seven key components include reducing transportation emissions, investing in renewable energy, maximizing energy efficiency, reducing building sector emissions, modernizing the state’s energy grid, focusing on underserved communities, and expanding the clean energy innovation economy.
“We are excited to support this coalition and look forward to working with voices across the state to build a better energy future,” said Carlos Medina, President and CEO of theStatewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey.“New Jersey needs to keep moving forward and the Energy Master Plan is the inclusive roadmap that will get us there. Things like energy efficiency, which is a key component in the plan, will create jobs and new economic opportunities in urban areas, while lowering energy costs in New Jersey’s Latino communities.”
The following groups have already joined CCEF:
