STEINHARDT: IDA AID FINALLY A REALITY FOR NEW JERSEYANS |

Senator Doug Steinhardt (R-23) released the following statement after Governor Murphy signed legislation to help New Jerseyans severely impacted by Hurricane Ida. Senator Steinhardt co-sponsored the legislation.
“For three long years, survivors of Hurricane Ida were ignored, overlooked, and unassisted—but today we can breathe a sigh of relief as our friends, neighbors, and fellow New Jerseyans who were forced to deal with this tragic situation will finally receive the necessary aid to get their lives back on track,” said Sen. Steinhardt. “I want to applaud the survivors who stood strong and continued to advocate for relief during this process, and while it took longer than we hoped, thank you to the Governor for getting this legislation signed into law.”
Senator Steinhardt has been a strong advocate for Hurricane Ida relief. In August, he sent a letter to Governor Murphy urging him to sign legislation that would provide assistance to those impacted.
Then in September, he released a statement in response to Governor Murphy’s initial conditional veto of the same legislation.
