Steinhardt: Supreme Court Hearing on Murphy Borrowing Scheme at 10:00 AM Today
For Immediate Release
Trenton, NJ – Despite New Jersey’s courts consistently holding that it is unconstitutional to bond for general operating expenses, Governor Murphy approved a $10 billion borrowing and State levied property tax scheme.
At 10:00 AM today, the New Jersey Supreme Court will hear arguments from the NJGOP, Senate and Assembly Republicans seeking to stop Murphy’s illegal borrowing and taxing.
NJGOP Chairman Steinhardt released the following statement:
“Governor Murphy continues to put New Jersey’s financial future at risk with his illegal borrowing and State levied property tax scheme. Leadership is about doing what’s right, not just what’s easy, and since the Governor isn’t brave enough to make the hard decisions today to protect New Jersey’s economic future tomorrow, we’ll see him in court.
“Today, we are here representing the economic common sense of every responsible New Jersey family that sits around their kitchen tables trying to make ends meet. Our parents and grandparents have earned the right to retire here and our children and grandchildren deserve the chance to start their lives here. Phil Murphy is taking that away. We’re giving it back.”
Arguments begin at 10 am and can be viewed online here: https://njcourts.gov/public/webcast.html
