Stephanie Schmid, Candidate for Congress in NJ-04, Wins Ocean County Democratic Endorsement

Stephanie Schmid decisively won the Ocean County Democratic Convention today, earning the endorsement and organizational line in a vote by County Committee Members, Municipal Chairs and elected officials who recognized her as the best candidate to take on Chris Smith and win NJ-04 in November.

Stephanie was nominated by Manchester Municipal Chair, Patricia Troise, and Secretary for the Manchester Democrats, Anna Amato. They cited Stephanie’s deep experience as a United States Foreign Service Officer and human rights advocate, her commitment to fixing our healthcare system, protecting our environment, and promoting our human rights as key reasons why they whole-heartedly support Stephanie.

Stephanie is honored to have won this endorsement. “I am incredibly grateful to have the support of Democratic leaders in Ocean County, and I am humbled that they have put their trust in me to represent our party in this race,” Stephanie said. “Our community members throughout NJ-04 are ready for a change in leadership and I am dedicated to working with leaders and grassroots advocates across our district to ensure a democratic victory in November, electing a Congresswoman who will fight for our families.”

Stephanie is a New Jersey native, retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer and Diplomat who served her country overseas on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, as well as a human rights litigation attorney and former non-profit leader. She’s running to bring new leadership to Congress at a time when we need our leaders to solve pressing challenges and create opportunities for the people of New Jersey.
