SULEIMAN STATEMENT ON THE REOPENING OF ATLANTIC CITY CASINOS

Was First Official to Publicly Call for July 4th Opening

(Absecon) Atlantic County Democratic Chairman Michael Suleiman released the following statement in regards to Governor Murphy’s reopening of Atlantic City’s casinos on July 2:

“I want to thank the Governor for reopening Atlantic City’s casinos before the all-important Fourth of July Weekend. Atlantic City was on its way to a major comeback before COVID-19, and soon we can regain our momentum and rejuvenate one of New Jersey’s great cities.

“Let me make clear that we must be guided by science, and casino operators have a responsibility to their employees and customers to keep people safe. It is my hope that falling COVID numbers, refined modeling, and continued social distancing measures will allow us to increase the maximum capacity of casinos down the road, possibly for Labor Day Weekend.”

On May 26, Suleiman was the first official to publicly call for the Administration to establish a plan to reopen the casinos by July 4th weekend.
