Super Football Conference holding annual Media Day event

New York Jets will host at Met Life Stadium

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (Aug. 16, 2021) – The Super Football Conference (SFC), the nation’s largest conference of high school football teams, is partnering with the National Football League’s New York Jets to conduct its annual Media Day at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The event will be held on Wednesday, August 25, beginning at 9 a.m.

Because of the large number of participating schools, Media Day will be split into two stages. Stage A, consisting of 55 schools, will begin its agenda at 9 a.m., while Stage B, with 57 schools, will begin at noon. Each participating school will have the opportunity to bring along up to three student-athletes.

In between, at 11 a.m., there will be a meeting for all conference head coaches.

“It’s great to be getting back on the field with the kids and coaches, and under much better circumstances than last season,” says the SFC’s recently-appointed president, Denis Nelson, who’s the athletic director for River Dell High School. “As a conference, we’re looking forward to an ongoing partnership with the Jets, and we very much appreciate their commitment to our student-athletes and high school football in New Jersey.”

In addition to the Media Day partnership with the Jets, the SFC is looking ahead to the following initiatives:

  • All SFC member teams will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks by wearing memorial helmet stickers (see image below). In addition, all conference member schools will utilize a commemorative coin for the pre-game coin-flip during the 9/11 weekend (see image below).

  • The conference is initiating the #WeAreBackSFC hashtag campaign to further enhance excitement in advance of the long-awaited 2021 football season. Prior to the opening weekend’s games, all member schools are encouraged to create, hashtag, and post short videos showcasing their enthusiasm for the coming season. This footage will then be accessible for sharing on various social media platforms by the conference’s schools.

  • The conference’s new Man of the Year program will highlight the community service efforts, academic successes, and strong character traits of SFC student-athletes. Each team will nominate one player, with all submissions being reviewed leading up to the selection of a single SFC Man of the Year. The intention is for this student to be recognized during a Man of the Year banquet, to be held in the early spring.

“The conference steering committee has done a terrific job with these various new efforts,” Nelson added. “As the country’s leading football conference, we’re tremendously committed to developing and implementing initiatives that further enhance the overall experience of our student-athletes.”
