Sweeney Attends Ribbon-Cutting of New Aviation Research and Technology Park

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of the first facility at the new National Aviation Research and Technology Park (NARTP) at Stockton University’s research park in Egg Harbor Township.

“These are the types of projects we need to be investing in all over our state. The National Aviation Research and Technology Park will help to make New Jersey an innovative leader in aviation technology,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland). “This premiere facility for aviation technology will provide important benefits for the entire region, and create much needed economic growth for both Atlantic City and South Jersey. The jobs created here will involve modern technology that will fuel the regional economy. We need to take full advantage of the opportunities it will provide and I look forward to seeing how Stockton University can build on this in the future.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony was also attended by Governor Phil Murphy, former Congressman Frank LoBiondo, Assemblyman Vincent Mazzeo and Assemblyman John Armato.

“This facility will become a vitally important and innovative center for the aviation industry, not only in New Jersey, but in the country,” said Assemblyman Vincent Mazzeo (D-Atlantic). “This sector of the economy will continue to grow, and will have a major economic impact for Atlantic County, surrounding communities and businesses, greater South Jersey and the entire state.”

“Investments in technology open doors to innovation that many us couldn’t imagine were there,” said Assemblyman John Armato (D-Atlantic). “This building is only the beginning of what will be a hub for ideas and entrepreneurial spirit in New Jersey. I can’t wait to see the accomplishments that are bound to come out of this center in the years to come.”

Once completed, NARTP will consist of seven buildings with 400,000 square feet of research and development space. Among the tenants in the first building are General Dynamics Information Technology, Thunderbolt Software, LLC, and the FAA LIFT Lab. The building also contains space for small business incubators for aviation-related startups.

Current research partners include Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, National Institute of Aerospace, Stockton University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Rowan University.
