Sweeney Endorses Speaker Coughlin’s Tax Amnesty Plan

TRENTON – Senate President Steve Sweeney issued the following statement today endorsing the plan offered by Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak to implement a three-month tax amnesty program:

“I fully endorse the plan offered by Speaker Coughlin and Assemblyman Karabinchak to implement a three-month tax amnesty program to generate state revenue without raising taxes. It is a thoughtful proposal that will help New Jersey address the fiscal challenges we face in a resourceful and responsible way.

“We have to maintain an open mind and a receptive attitude towards the best ideas to address the state’s needs and this idea will be an effective way of capturing revenue that is already due. I will work with my colleagues in the Senate and with Speaker Coughlin to see that it gains legislative support and approval.”
