NEWARK – Senate President Steve Sweeney joined the Newark-North Jersey Committee of Black Churchmen for its Annual Martin Luther King Day Service today.

“Today we reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. King,” said Senator Sweeney (D-Gloucester/Salem/Cumberland).  “His memory unites us as a people and calls us to never stop striving for common ground and shared purpose.  Each year Martin Luther King Day serves as a reminder of what can be accomplished when you fight for what is right and never stop believing that change is possible.”

The service was held at Paradise Baptist Church, with Pastor Ronald L. Slaughter as the keynote speaker.
