Sweeney, Pennachio, Oroho to Tour Lake Hopatcong

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney, Senator Joe Pennachio and Senator Steve Oroho will take a boat tour of Lake Hopatcong tomorrow in order to gain a first-hand understanding of the blue-green algae bloom that closed the lake to recreational use for much of the summer.

The tour, open to the press, will take place on September 19, 2019 from 1:15pm – 2:15pm.

The tour will depart from 16 Nolan’s Point Park Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ.

This past summer, the DEP closed Lake Hopatcong due to dangerous blue-green algae blooms throughout the lake. The closure caused the area to lose tens of thousands of tourists and led to millions of dollars of lost revenue for local businesses.
