Sweeney Statement on the Passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Trenton – Senate President Steve Sweeney issued the following statement on the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:

“This is a monumental loss of a women who became an icon in her lifetime. Justice Ginsburg was a master of the law whose constitutional and moral authority transcended the courts to impact all of society. She was a trailblazer who overcame obstacles with grace, dignity and a selfless sense of humor. She will forever be a role model for young girls and women of all ages.

“While she gained a national stature and a devoted following, New Jersey can proudly claim her as one of our own as the former Rutgers University law professor who successfully led the legal battle for gender equality. We can all honor Justice Ginsburg and her legacy by taking to heart the values and principles that she fought for with courage, determination and humility.”
