Frelinghuysen Works to Give Republicans Their Only Legislative Victory to the Detriment of NJ 11 Middle Class Families

Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen and the House GOP followed their GOP brethren in the Senate, and stealthily passed a budget resolution which will effectively double taxes for middle class families in favor of delivering enormous tax cuts for the rich. This is not a plan based on affordability or fiscal responsibility.

Congressional Democrats fought aggressively on behalf of families and seniors, working unanimously in opposition to this destructive Republican resolution that will cut a whopping $473 billion from Medicare and $1 trillion from Medicaid. This hurtful vote which passed with no Democratic support, will also include deep cuts to Pell Grants, Head Start and cancer research totaling in excess of $5 trillion.

This egregious transfer of wealth will benefit those who need it least – to the detriment of middle- and working-class families. Democratic candidate for NJ 11, Tamara Harris, had these comments, “ Legislation made out of desperation is not the way to approach tax reform. It is time for leaders to come together and work to create a bipartisan supported sensible tax reform resolution that does not destroy the economic mobility of our millennials and working and middle class families, while causing increased burdens for our seniors.

The impact of this resolution will be felt nationwide, but New Jersey families will feel its effects disproportionately. The resolution will ultimately eliminate State and Local Tax (SALT) deductions. SALT has been a relief to the tax burden crippling New Jersey families,who already pay some of the highest property taxes in the country. The impact of this measure will further hit NJ families in their wallets to the tune of over $21,500.

Tamara Harris is a proven businesswoman and successful entrepreneur and family advocate who will take the fight to Washington DC on behalf of NJ 11th families.  Rep Frelinghuysen does not have the best interest of New Jersey’s working families and seniors at heart and continues to align with a Republican Party which, to date, has not achieved any legislative victories.  Tamara will be a strong champion in Washington who will fight to ease the tax burden of NJ families and help improve their quality of life.
