Team Fulop Continues To Build Down Ballot Campaign Structure In Every County
Complete Slates of Bergen County and Somerset County Commissioner Candidates will Run With Team Fulop
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The Fulop for Governor campaign is announcing four County Commissioner candidates who will run alongside Democratic gubernatorial candidate Steven Fulop in next year’s Primary Election. The candidates in Bergen County are former Palisades Park Mayor Chris Chung, former BCDO State Senate candidate John Vitale and former Closter Councilwoman Dolores Witko and in Somerset County Veteran Affair Medical Doctor Dhaval Amin.
With 20 recruited NJ Assembly candidates running in districts throughout the state, this now brings Team Fulop to 24 Democratic candidates in total down ballot.
“I said from the beginning that our campaign was about bringing change to New Jersey, and that means empowering candidates for office at every level,” said Mayor Steven Fulop. “We need people who will listen to the constituents, not the political bosses, when they make decisions about zoning, or a park or a school. We are running a campaign on leaders who respond to problems not with platitudes, but with policies, and who see barriers as something to fight against and progress as something to fight for.”
Former Palisades Park Mayor Chris Chung has dedicated his career to shaping a better future for his residents. As Mayor, he focused on community development, public safety and infrastructure. Prior to serving as Mayor, Mr. Chung promoted community engagement and transparency as Councilman and Council President of Palisades Park. As a Trustee and Board President of the Board of Education for Palisades Park and as Co-President of the Parent-Teacher Association, he advocated for enhanced education opportunities for all.
A lifelong public servant, Bergen County resident Dolores Witko served on the Closter Board of Education for a decade and on the Closter Council for six years. She has served her community relentlessly as Chair of the Human Resources Committee, Fire Commissioner, and Executive Board Member and Delegate of district 1199J AFSCME. One of the strong voices on Closter’s first-ever female majority council, Ms. Witko has been a strong advocate for breaking with the status quo.
Restauranteur John Vitale went into public service after he witnessed the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses. He created the Anello Feeds First Initiative to supply hot meals to over 90,000 hospital workers, first responders and essential workers. Since then, he has continued to grow the non-profit to tackle food insecurity in New Jersey by serving meals to local food pantries, in addition to supporting other organizations that work to provide service with dignity.
Dr. Dhaval Amin of Bridgewater has dedicated almost a decade to improving the lives of soldiers and veterans as a Podiatric Physician at the Veterans Affairs Hospital of New Jersey. He was previously an Active Duty Major, where he developed leadership skills and a desire to serve his community. While his area of expertise is medicine, he believes he can make a positive impact on Somerset County across all issues through public office.
