Testa, Simonsen & McClellan Deliver Pizzas to Individuals in Need for ‘Pizza Across America’ Campaign

Senator Michael Testa, Assemblyman Erik Simonsen, and Assemblyman Antwan McClellan delivered 55 pizzas to Wesley by the Bay and the Cumberland Family Shelter as part of Slice Out Hunger’s “Pizza Across America” campaign.

“I would like to thank Mama Mia’s Ristorante in Marmora as well as Luca’s Pizza and Dominick’s Pizza in Vineland, for helping me to provide fresh pizzas to a number of local organizations, including Wesley by the Bay and the Cumberland Family Shelter,” said Testa (R-1). “This generous donation will help these organizations bring some joy to individuals and families in need.”

“I can’t think of a better way to help feed our community and bring people together than with pizza,” said Simonsen (R-1). “We love taking any opportunity we can to support local businesses—especially when it is for a good cause like, ‘Pizza Across America.’”

“Too many people go to bed hungry every single night,” said McClellan. (R-1). “Every little bit helps and even donations like pizza make a huge difference to so many individuals and organizations.”

The “Pizza Across America” campaign celebrates “National Pizza Day” on February 9 by asking pizzerias to donate at least 10 pies to their local shelters, soup kitchens, and hunger action centers.

“I felt it was very important for me to teach my children at a young age to get involved and help our community,” said Carmine Testa, co-founder of Pizza Across America and owner of Carmine’s Pizza Factory. “Our vehicle for that is pizza. With the help of Slice Out Hunger and the World Pizza Champions and Senator Testa, we were able to extend help from our local community, to communities all over the country. The Power Of Pizza!”

Slice Out Hunger is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that has raised over $1,000,000 to fund hunger relief efforts around the US since 2009 and uses food donated by independent pizzerias to raise money for local hunger relief organizations.
