Testimony of Attorney General Grewal before Congress on the Rise of Militia Extremism and Violent White Supremacy

 

This afternoon, New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal testified virtually before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Reform, Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. Attorney General Grewal provided an overview of New Jersey’s law enforcement strategies to protect communities from violent extremists during the meeting titled “Confronting Violent White Supremacy (Part V): Examining the Rise of Militia Extremism.”

Witnesses at the hearing included: New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal; Mary McCord, Legal Director of the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection at Georgetown University; Peter Simi, Associate Professor of Sociology at Chapman University; and Michael Gonzalez, Senior Fellow at the Heritage Foundation. The Subcommittee is chaired by Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-08), and the Ranking Member is Rep. Pete Sessions (TX-17).
