The Beach is Still Within Reach: N.J.’s Secretary of State Encourages Philadelphia-Area Travelers to Continue Visiting the Jersey Shore Amid I-95 Temporary Closure
The State Welcomes Summer Travelers with Ample Signage and Additional Routes
TRENTON, NEW JERSEY (June 22, 2023) – Following the recent temporary closure of a northbound section of Interstate 95 between Exits 30 and 32 in Philadelphia, New Jersey’s Secretary of State Tahesha Way and the New Jersey Division of Travel & Tourism are assuring travelers that the state remains accessible and welcoming for visitors.
“We want our friends from the Philadelphia area to have the peace of mind in knowing that the beach is still within reach with ample signage and directions for alternative routes to help them enjoy their time at the Jersey Shore and beyond, as always, this summer,” said New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way. “All the things they know and love about their New Jersey vacation experience, including the beaches, concerts, fairs and attractions are here, and they shouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of them.”
Interstate 95 is a major route connecting Philadelphia to the rest of the country, but the temporary closure of a section of the highway for repairs and reconstruction should not cause concern among travelers from the area about getting to and from New Jersey. Well-marked detours provide clear direction for rerouting, and travelers are also urged to use their GPS for alternative routes. Visitors should check local media in advance for the most recent news and updates and just allow for additional travel time to get to all the summer fun New Jersey has to offer.
“Every summer, we welcome thousands of travelers from the Philadelphia area to the Jersey Shore and we expect this year to be no different,” said Jeff Vasser, Executive Director of the New Jersey Division of Travel & Tourism. “We love our Philadelphia visitors, and we know they love vacationing here. For many it is a long-standing family tradition, and we want them to know that nothing should stop them from continuing to build their New Jersey memories.”
