The Women Of New Jersey Share Their Perspectives in Two-Episode Special, HerStory with Joanna Gagis, September 7 and 14 at 8 p.m. on NJ PBS

UPDATED September 6, 2022 – NEWARK, NJ — NJ PBS, New Jersey’s public television network, announced its new special series focusing on women’s issues, HerStory with Joanna Gagis, will air in primetime on Wednesday, September 7 and 14 at 8 p.m. (check local listings).

Produced by the network’s news division, NJ Spotlight News, the programs delve into the many sides of issues affecting New Jersey women.

“As much as women today have broken through the glass ceiling, there are still so many barriers that prevent us from having full autonomy over our choices and our life paths,” says Gagis, host and NJ Spotlight News Sr. Correspondent.  “It’s so important that women have the opportunity to make their thoughts and opinions known. This special series provides that space and elevates their voices to reach the entire state.”

In the first episode, Gagis delves into reactions to the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. She talks to women with varying opinions across New Jersey to drill down into how the decision affects them. Voices that weigh in include pro-abortion and anti-abortion citizens and activists, a pregnancy resource center administrator and state legislators from both sides of the aisle. Stream the episode now.

In the second episode, Gagis discusses the challenges of today’s working women and young girls, from finding work/life balance to education paths. Gagis hears from a mom who chose to stop working because she wasn’t earning enough to pay for childcare; others who left the corporate world to start their own businesses and a teen who started an education program to encourage young women to enter STEM and STEAM fields.  Stream the episode now.

“These specials offer a unique look at life in the Garden State through the female lens,” said NJ Spotlight News Sr. Managing Editor Jamie Kraft. “We get to meet fascinating women, hear their life stories, passions and opinions on issues that will resonate with not just other women, but every New Jerseyan.”
