Thousands of Marchers to Join Elected Officials to Call for Reuniting Families Separated by CBP, ICE, and Ending Detention at the Border and in New Jersey

Senator Menendez, Senator Booker, First Lady Tammy Murphy, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman to join marchers

NEWARK, NJ (June 30, 2018) – On Saturday, June 30th thousands of protestors and advocates will join elected officials in Newark to demand the immediate reunification  of all families separated by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the border and within New Jersey. Speakers will include immigrant families and children who have experienced detention and family separation, as well as Senator Bob Menendez, Senator Cory Booker, and First Lady Tammy Murphy.

The march will begin at 11am in front of Newark City Hall, located at 920 Broad Street in Newark. Marchers will call on New Jersey’s selected officials to stand up to protect immigrant families in New Jersey.

New Jersey elected officials must act to protect immigrant families in our state by ensuring our state does not aid in cruel deportation efforts. New Jersey must also guarantee  effective, pro bono legal counsel to all people in immigration proceedings and ensure that all immigrants can live, drive and study safely in New Jersey.

WHERE: March begins at Newark City Hall, located at 920 Broad Street in Newark, New Jersey 07102 and continues to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Center located on 970 Broad Street.
