Tom Malinowski Files 10X More Petition Signatures Than Tom Kean Jr.

(Basking Ridge, NJ) Tom Malinowski has secured 3,526 petition signatures to qualify for the ballot for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. This is nearly one thousand more signatures than all other District 7 candidates combined, and more than ten times the number Malinowski’s potential Republican opponent, Tom Kean Jr., submitted. Since kicking off in January, Tom Malinowski for Congress has recruited more than 190 active volunteers who have knocked on more than 4,200 doors!

“We’re just getting started,” said Malinowski Campaign Manager Stacy Cohen. “Our petition results demonstrate the incredible level of grassroots enthusiasm and support that exist for our campaign, as well as the considerable organizational strength we’ve built so early on. Voters know what the stakes are this year, and trust Tom Malinowski to have their backs.”

Tom Kean Jr. managed to file 332 signatures – a bare 132 over the amount required to secure his name on the primary ballot in New Jersey. Furthermore, all four of Junior’s serious Republican primary challengers, Kevin Dorlon, Erik Peterson, Phil Rizzo, and John Isemann, filed more petition signatures than he did, despite the lack of institutional support from the NJGOP and national Republican Party that Kean Jr. has enjoyed, and largely squandered, for more than a year now.

“These petition filings make clear that support for Tom Kean Jr. among Republican voters in NJ-07 is feeble,” said Cohen. “Between low petition numbers and razor thin Republican Convention results across the district it’s clear that Republican voters have no enthusiasm for this unremarkable candidate; it should make for an interesting primary.”
