McDonald’s Partners with Jobs for America’s Graduates to Offer Workshop on Job Opportunities to Newark Students

WHAT:           McDonald’s Corporation is teaming up with Jobs for America’s Graduates to teach Weequahic High School students about the skills needed for a variety of job functions in a corporate environment. McDonald’s New York Metro Region corporate staff specializing in marketing, operations, real estate, finance and human resources will share information about their respective fields and the skills and education needed to succeed in the workplace. Local McDonald’s owner/operators will share their experience as small business owners as well as highlight the skills available from a restaurant job at McDonald’s.

                        The students will also hear from special guest speaker, Mathew Ajayi. Ajayi began working with McDonald’s at age 16 as a crew person and over the past 20 years worked his way up through a number of roles, now serving as Vice President of Operations for McDonald’s New York Metro Region.

                        Students will also learn about Archways to Opportunity, McDonald’s comprehensive education program which offers educational and career advancement opportunities to employees who work in McDonald’s restaurants. Since the program’s inception in 2015, more than 1,500 McDonald’s employees across the New York Metro region have enrolled in Archways to Opportunity to apply for college tuition assistance, complete their high school degree, improve their English language skills, and sign up for career advisement.
