TONY PERRY EXPECTED TO BE MIDDLETOWN MAYOR IN 2019

Tony Fiore Anticipated to Serve as Deputy Mayor

MIDDLETOWN – When the governing body reorganizes on Sunday, January 6^th, Tony Perry will take the oath of office to serve his first full three-year term on the Township Committee.  During this meeting, the governing body is also expected to elect Perry to serve as Middletown’s Mayor for the first time. Tony Fiore is anticipated to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2019.

At 28, Tony Perry will be the youngest person ever to serve as Mayor of Middletown and among the youngest in Monmouth County and the State of New Jersey. “Perry’s energy, enthusiasm and youth combined with Tony Fiore’s years of experience on the Committee will be a huge benefit to our residents,” said Mayor Kevin Settembrino.

Fiore has been on the Township Committee for over 10 years, served as Mayor twice, and it will be his fifth time serving as Deputy Mayor. He was also on the Middletown Planning Board from 2006 through 2009.

“If elected on Sunday, serving as Mayor at the start of my term is a tremendous way to begin the journey,” said Perry, who joined the governing body in 2017 when he was appointed to fill an unexpired term. “I’m humbled to be given this opportunity and deeply appreciate the support of the Township Committee and the Middletown residents.”

Perry graduated from Temple University in 2012.  After graduation, he joined the Sandy Recovery Division of the Governor’s office and coordinated the recovery efforts for more than 2,700 families across the state with the U.S. Office of Emergency Management, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

He currently serves as Director of Government Affairs for the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey and previously served as Chief of Staff to Senator Joseph Kyrillos for three years. Prior to joining the Township Committee, Perry was a member of the Township Planning Board and has been a Trustee of the Middletown Township Library Board since 2015.

Committeewoman Patricia Snell and Committeeman Rick Hibell will also be sworn in at the Township’s Organization Meeting this Sunday, January 6^th at 10 a.m. in the Courtroom at Town Hall.
