Torres Mayfield Announces candidacy for Atlantic City’s 3rd Ward Council

“Service with Pride!”

It’s with great pride I announce my candidacy for 3rd Councilman of Atlantic City.

-Proud of the great history of our city.
-Proud of all the new growth and development in the works and on the horizon.
-Proud that the residents of the Third Ward when looking for new leadership have offered such a overwhelming level of support for my candidacy.
-Above all, proud that my desire and commitment to service has equipped me to build positive relationships to make our community safe and clean. To help guide redevelopment of our housing stock, to ensure our residents have safe modern and affordable housing and to provide a higher level of programming for our youth and seniors.

ABOUT TORRES

Torres Mayfield Sr. has been a resident of Atlantic City since 1972 and has seen first-hand the transition of our city. He’s lived here for all of his adult life and witnessed first-hand the failures of government and its effect on our communities. It’s an experience that has shaped his worldview and accordingly led to his becoming a staunch advocate for the homeless and the less fortunate.  He has been an Atlantic County Democratic Committee Member since 2008 and currently serves on the Executive Board of The Atlantic City Democratic Committee as the Corresponding Secretary and a U.S.Veteran

After graduating from Atlantic City Public Schools, Torres volunteered for military service in the United States Army where he served with distinction and received many commendations. As a graduate of the Army’s Advanced Military Training School, he was sent to the Persian Gulf War during Operation Desert Storm / Desert Shield. Then he continually served in the New Jersey National Guard after the Persian Gulf War. He was honorably discharged in 1998.

Following his military service Torres began an extensive career in law enforcement. He currently works as a Security Officer for Atlanticare, one of the regions largest healthcare providers. Has significant training in FEMA emergency management.

Outside of his professional life, Torres’ greatest love is serving his community and the less fortunate.

He volunteers much of his free time working with various Community Civic
Organizations such as the NAACP, the Atlantic County Criminal Justice Advisory Panel, the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, the AtlantiCare Employee Resource Group, Friends in Action, and a Member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge (State of N.J). He also a board member of Faces4Autism, Appointed to the New Jersey Selective Service Board and serves in many other civic and charitable positions.

The foundation of Torres’ spirit of charity lies in his faith and the lessons instilled in him by his mother, Alice M. Mayfield to love and share God’s Grace.

“It’s Not How Much You Give, It’s the Love You Put into
Giving” – Alice Mayfield
