During Monday’s Township Council Meeting, December 16, 2024, the Township Council unanimously appointed Kevin O’Sullivan as Verona’s new Township Manager, set to take office on February 7, 2025, for a three-year term. As the current Deputy Township Manager, Kevin has showcased outstanding expertise in municipal operations and a deep commitment to Verona, effectively providing oversight to many initiatives and daily operations. Since starting with Verona in October of 2023, Kevin has been a key player in working towards revitalizing downtown Verona, implementing parking and infrastructure enhancements, exploring sustainable energy initiatives, assessing traffic management improvements and obtaining more than $2 million in grant funding, with many more applications currently underway.
Before joining the Verona administration, Kevin served as the North Caldwell Borough Administrator and the Executive Director of the Kearny Municipal Utilities Authority. Prior to his public service career, he worked as a municipal engineer in private practice. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and maintains his professional license. Kevin has deep connections to Verona with parents who were educators in the Verona school system and currently residing in Verona himself with his wife and two children.
Verona Township extends a warm welcome to Kevin in his new role as Township Manager; his proven experience and understanding of Verona’s needs will help our community thrive under his leadership. Together, we anticipate a bright and prosperous future for Verona.
As we welcome Kevin, we must also say farewell to our esteemed and dedicated current Township Manager, Joseph D’Arco, who will begin his well-earned retirement on February 6, 2025. His impactful three years with Verona follow an impressive 56 years in public service. Under his guidance, Verona has initiated numerous successful projects across recreation, emergency management, water utilities and public works. Being a Veteran himself, Mr. D’Arco has been a steward in providing Veteran resources and programs, emphasizing his belief that “Town Hall is the home of the community and where Veterans should always be supported and welcomed”. His dedication and visionary leadership have not only driven Verona to significant achievements but have also set the stage for continued growth and prosperity. His commitment to improving the quality of life for Verona residents will leave a lasting legacy.
