City Administration Strategically Restructures Departmental Leadership

TRENTON, NJ

Mayor W. Reed Gusciora reaffirmed his commitment to moving the City forward in his second term. Some new Directors will be coming to City Hall to offer new perspectives in management and vision for the Departments.

The Mayor initiated an administrative strategic restructuring at the end of his first term. Each department was assessed in conjunction with the goals of the Mayor’s second term.

All City of Trenton departmental directors received courtesy letters on December 20, 2022 from the Office of the Mayor reminding them that their respective appointments with the city expire on December 31, 2022. In addition, all city directors were informed, upon being hired, that their employment is at-will. However, no city directors were dismissed; former city directors did not have their appointments renewed.

While the City of Trenton does not publicly discuss ongoing personnel matters, the Gusciora administration is committed to moving the city forward by complying with all legal requirements. As is ordinary with city government, the administration will complete its strategic restructuring, and announce the appointment of new directors subject to the approval of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the “advice and consent” of City Council.
