Capital City’s MOU Lifted for Independence Day
Trenton N.J. – Capital City Mayor Reed Gusciora along with Senator Shirley Turner and Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson will be hosting a press conference tomorrow July 3rd at 11 am, on the steps of Trenton City Hall to celebrate Trenton’s own Independence Day from the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the State of New Jersey.
Under the budget passed by the legislature, the city of Trenton has been removed from the ‘Transitional Aid’ category of state financial assistance.
The effort was a hard-fought win for the Fighting Fifteenth legislators prior to the end of the State’s fiscal year. For years, the MOU has heavily restricted the Capital City’s ability to hire essential personnel; which required approval from the Division of Community Affairs.
