Uber Will Offer Discounted Rides to the Polls on Election Day in New Jersey

Program Follows Highly Successful National Voter Registration Drive for Drivers and Riders

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In an effort to increase voter turnout in the Garden State, Uber is announcing that it will offer discounted rides to the polls on Election Day as well as the ability for voters to find their polling place within its app. The rideshare company will discount rides by 50% for round trips, offering discounts up to $14 per user for traveling to vote on Election Day. The initiative follows a highly successful national voter registration drive focused on Uber riders and drivers that resulted in 75,000 new voter registrations across the country.

“As we look ahead to this year’s election, we are committed to doing our part to make sure every citizen has access to vote,” Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said. “We hope that by giving people the ability to easily register to vote, request an absentee ballot and get to the polls via the Uber and Uber Eats apps, independent workers — and everyone who uses our platform — will have a stronger voice in our democracy.”
