Union County Young Democrats announce their 2021 Executive Board
Union County, NJ – The Union County Young Democrats are excited to announce their newly elected 2021 Executive Board, representing the best talent and dedication Union County has to offer.
The UCYD held their annual elections on April 21st, where the general membership elected the newly appointed 5-member board.

“I am proud to support the new Executive Board of the Union County Young Democrats, they represent some of the brightest up-and-coming leaders and activists across Union County,” said Union County Democratic Committee Chairman and Senator Nicholas Scutari. “The Young Democrats have played prominent roles in past campaigns to get Democrats elected up and down the ticket across Union County and I look forward to working with this new leadership group to expand their membership and empower their dynamic voices.”

Bringing these young voices into our organization provides us with proof of the Party’s big tent and bright future.”
“First and foremost, I want to thank the previous past President Elliot Johnson and the entire Executive Board for advancing the Union County Young Democrats to the next level,” said incoming President Regina Appolon. “Now more than ever, we have seen the transformative power of young people coming together towards a common cause and I look forward to leading the organization to not only support our shared Democratic values but also to support the amazing services and Elected Officials that constantly strive to make Union County better.”
“The power of the youth movement is in the numbers,” said incoming Vice-President Juan Carlos Nordelo. “I believe that the Union County Young Democrats hold tremendous potential in being a wonderful support system to Union County’s leadership and I look forward to growing our membership and impact not only in Union County but across the State.”

2021 Union County Young Democrats Executive Board
Regina Appolon, President – Regina works as a Government Affairs Professional for Princeton Public Affairs Group and also serves as Northern Vice President for the New Jersey Young Democrats Executive Board. Regina Appolon is a highly respected political operative with a wealth of legislative experience in financial education, civil liberties, commerce and transportation. Through a unique blend of policy expertise, dedication to public service and tight knit relationships, Appolon’s career has been defined by high-impact policy making.
Juan Carlos Nordelo, Vice-President – Juan Carlos serves as the Legislative Director to Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-19th Legislative District) where he manages the Assemblywoman’s policy portfolio and legislative initiatives. Juan Carlos also serves as a member of the Township of Cranford’s Planning Board and as Treasurer of Millennials for New Jersey.
Harris Laufer, Treasurer – Harris works as the Legislative Director to Senator Nicholas Scutari (D- 22nd Legislative District) where he serves as the Senator’s policy advisor on a wide variety of areas. Harris also served as the New Jersey Young Democrats Jewish Caucus Chair and as Chairman of the Springfield Board of Health.
Alex G. Mirabella, Secretary – Alex is a legal marketing consultant with Martindale Hubbell located in New Providence. He is a former collegiate wrestler for The College of New Jersey and has continued his involvement in athletics by coaching youth football for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood PAL program. Alex also enjoys taking time to volunteer, most recently with the Union County Vaccine Center as well as local food drives.
Dave Pilmenstein, Executive Director – Dave is the President of Activate Media, a young but in-demand blue media firm, a cinematographer, and the Creative Director for the County of Union. When not knee-deep in politics, he’s an avid hiker and the uncle to every dog in the world. Dave also serves as the Vice-Chairman on the Springfield Board of Health.
