UNION COUNTY YOUNG DEMOCRATS ELECT NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD

CLARK, N.J. —The Union County Young Democrats (UCYD) elected their new executive board committed to engaging and training the next generation of Union County leaders.

The committee elected the following Executive Board Members:

• Harrison Clewell (New Providence), President
• Juan Carlos Nordelo (Cranford), Vice-President
• Raine Cuseglio (Plainfield), Finance Director
• Mariel DiDato (Rahway), Secretary
• Alexander Mirabella (Fanwood), Executive Director
• Regina Appolon (Union), Senior Advisor

“I am proud to support the Executive Board of the Union County Young Democrats,” said Union County Democratic Committee Chairman and New Jersey State Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari. “I know firsthand the power and impact of youth engagement in the political process and I have no doubt this board will work diligently to increase its membership and support our Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.”

“The future is certainly bright in Union County, and I am excited to work with the energetic young leaders leading the Union County Young Democrats,” said Union County Democratic Organization Vice-Chairwoman and Assemblywoman Linda Carter. “Engaging young people in the political process remains a priority for the UCDC and I am confident that the Young Dems are ready for the task at hand. ”

“Union County is fortunate to have so many young, elected leaders among its ranks and the goal is to keep growing,” said incoming Union County Young Democrats President Harrison Clewell. “In the past two years we have seen many young candidates including myself run for office and get more involved in their communities, bringing new perspectives and ideas to the County and the Party. As President I look forward to working with my Executive Board to help build a bench of future leaders and continue empowering young voices and leaders.”

2021 Union County Young Democrats Executive Board

Harrison Clewell – Harrison C. Clewell is an attorney for Genova Burns LLC. Prior to joining Genova Burns, Harrison was a Student Attorney in the Criminal Justice Clinic at the Center for Social Justice where he represented criminal defendants in the Essex County Special Remand Court. He received the Clinical Legal Education Association Award, recognizing one individual for their work as an outstanding legal practitioner.

Juan Carlos Nordelo, Vice-President – Juan Carlos serves as the Legislative Director to Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez (D-19th Legislative District) where he manages the Assemblywoman’s policy portfolio and legislative initiatives. Juan Carlos also serves as

Vice-Chairman of the Township of Cranford’s Planning Board and as Treasurer of Millennials for New Jersey.

Raine Cuseglio, Finance Director – Raine is a veteran political operative who served as the former chief of Staff to Assemblyman Nicholas Chivarollati and Senior Political Advisor to former Hudson County Chairwoman Amy DeGise. Raine currently works for the Union County Democratic Organization managing campaign operations and logistics for candidates up and down the ballot.

Mariel DiDato, Secretary- Mariel works as Legislative Liaison for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. She currently serves as Deputy Director of the Legislative and Political Team for the New Jersey Young Democrats, and formerly served as president of the Monmouth County Young Democrats and Recording Secretary of the Monmouth Democrats Executive Board. She ran for General Assembly in 2017 and has a wealth of experience and education in advancing reproductive rights and ending gender-based violence.

Alex G. Mirabella, Executive Director – Alex is a legal marketing consultant with Walker Advertising. He is a former collegiate wrestler for The College of New Jersey and has continued his involvement in athletics by coaching youth football for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood PAL program. Alex also enjoys taking time to volunteer, most recently with the Union County Vaccine Center as well as local food drives.

Regina Appolon, Senior Advisor – Regina works as a Government Affairs Professional for Princeton Public Affairs Group and also serves as Northern Vice President for the New Jersey Young Democrats Executive Board. Regina Appolon is a highly respected political operative with a wealth of legislative experience in financial education, civil liberties, commerce and transportation. Through a unique blend of policy expertise, dedication to public service and tight knit relationships, Appolon’s career has been defined by high-impact policy making.
