Vainieri Huttle Applauds SCOTUS Decision to Protect LGBTQ Rights in the Workplace

(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen) released the following statement in response to today’s United States Supreme Court ruling that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 bars employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity:

“No one should ever face discrimination in the workplace based on who they are or who they love. Today, the Supreme Court has recognized that these values are unequivocally enshrined in our law, and gay and transgender Americans have a right to these essential protections. It’s only fitting that this historic day comes in the middle of Pride Month. I applaud the heroic advocates who fought for decades to end workplace discrimination against the LGBTQ community. Their work will be remembered for generations to come.”
