Vainieri Huttle on Inaugural Meeting of Senior Services Committee

(TRENTON) – Following the first meeting of the new Assembly Senior Services Committee on Monday, chairwoman Valerie Vainieri Huttle (D-Bergen) released the following statement:

“As we continue to live longer and healthier lives, we are seeing a multitude of new issues come to light. Some seniors are at risk of becoming addicted to opioid painkillers, while others lack access to healthcare. Many experience social isolation. And very sadly, some are financially exploited, abused or fall victim to fraud. New Jersey has no shortage of resources for seniors, but the challenge is connecting elderly residents to the right services. The charge of this committee will be to find comprehensive ways to raise awareness for and streamline access to resources, and take steps to improve the day to day lives of New Jersey’s 1.5 million senior citizens.”
