Verizon Volunteers in Robbinsville, NJ To Support Hand in Hand
Nationwide Hurricane Relief Telethon
WHO: As people respond to Hurricane Irma’s impact, Texans are just
beginning the process of rebuilding from Harvey. And thousands of
Verizon call center representatives across the United States are
preparing to lend their support to Tuesday night’s Hand in Hand: A
Benefit for Hurricane Relief telethon.
As one of the underwriting partners of the event, Verizon is donating
$2.5 million to the telethon as well as orchestrating the more than
2,000 call center volunteers taking phone donations during the live
telecast. Verizon employees from these 18 wireless and landline call
centers will be staffing the phones to take donations to benefit
victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
WHAT: Verizon employees at the Robbinsville, NJ call center will
process pledges during the commercial-free telethon that will
broadcast live starting at 8 p.m. ET on multiple networks including
ABC, BRAVO, CBS, CMT, E!, FOX, HBO, MTV, MTV2, MTV LIVE, MTV CLASSIC,
NBC and OXYGEN, and live-streamed via Facebook, YouTube, AOL,
Huffington Post, Yahoo and Twitter. All the money raised will go
straight to families and communities in need.
Members of the news media are invited to visit the Verizon
Robbinsville, NJ during the telethon. The news media can interview,
photograph and film employee volunteers and talk with Verizon
officials about the effort.
