Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans Statement

Since 1899 the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans have advocated in Washington D.C and State Capitals to  ensure the government’s  obligation to care for  those injured during war and to provide for the families of those who perished on the battlefield is honored and never forgotten.

Today the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans are proud to announce the introduction of A-3604 and S-2285 which will grant a property tax rebate all veterans with a military service-connected disability based on their U.S. Veterans Administration rating. Qualified veteran homeowners and renters will be eligible for this benefit. We thank Senator Cryan along with Assembly Members Tucker, Jaffer, and Moriarty for their hard work with the VFW and DAV to draft this legislation which will also benefit our lower income and younger veterans who are transitioning from military to civilian life.

“Currently, only veterans  with a disability rating of 100 percent total and permanent  disability  are eligible for the State’s property tax relief program,” said Assemblywoman Cleopatra Tucker (D-Essex). “Through implementing a broader property tax rebate program, we can reach more New Jersey veterans with disabilities, regardless of their disability rating and permanence. This is the much-needed relief our veterans deserve for their sacrifice and service to our country.”

We call on all members of the Legislature to co-sponsor and swiftly pass these bills to improve the welfare of these veterans whose lives are forever altered by their service to our Nation.
