VFW press release concerning the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home

It is welcoming news the learn the Governor’s Office and the Department of Military & Veterans Affairs are finally holding the leadership of the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home accountable for the dangerous conditions in the facility. For months the residents, their families and the Veterans of Foreign Wars were lied to when we were told the issues found in the latest report were “minor”. The lack of transparency is unacceptable. The state and it’s lawyers are more determined to hide dangerous conditions than correct the issues which endanger the lives of our veterans.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars has presented a capital improvement plan to correct some of the issues, but no plan will improve the lives and well-being of our veterans without responsible, competent, and transparent leadership.

We would like to thank Senators Cryan, Vitale, and Assemblywoman Tucker for their leadership in assisting the VFW in our quest to protect our veterans under state care.

Jay Boxwell                            Ken Hagemann
State Commander                 State Adjutant/QM
