Vice President Joe Biden Endorses Andy Kim

After U.S. Senator Cory Booker slammed former Vice President Joe Biden over a comment he made about working in the senate with segregationists, Biden refused to say he was sorry and hit back with a demand that Booker apologize. Booker says, no way.

Vice President Joe Biden Endorses Andy Kim

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Just days after the GOP’s stunning loss in a district Trump carried overwhelmingly, Vice President Joe Biden endorsed Andy Kim’s campaign for Congress against vulnerable Republican Tom MacArthur, the author of the the Trump health care bill in the House and the only Member of Congress from New Jersey to vote for the Republican tax scam that guts New Jersey SALT deductions.

“Andy’s family story embodies the American story. His parents grew up poor and worked their way to America for a better life,” the former Vice President said. “They got educated and gave back to their local communities. Their son worked hard and decided to devote his life to service. From Afghanistan to the White House Situation Room, Andy tackled some of the most important and difficult national security challenges America faces. He served with integrity and hard work, arrived early, stayed late, and traveled to dangerous places to keep Americans safe at home. Andy Kim is a true public servant. We need more folks like Andy in Congress and that is why I am proud to endorse him.”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of someone I admire a great deal, Vice President Joe Biden” Kim said. “I worked closely with Vice President Biden in the White House on the fight against ISIS. He taught me a great deal about what our country can achieve when we work together and treat people with respect. My father immigrated to America and dedicated his life to cure cancer. Meanwhile, my opponent, Representative Tom MacArthur, led the effort to turn back the clock, take away pre-existing conditions protections and raise premiums. That would be devastating for Americans trying to fight cancer. As Vice President Joe Biden understands, this is the country that should cure cancer, not deny sick people health coverage.”

Democrats locally and nationally are united behind Andy Kim to take on Tom MacArthur in what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive campaigns in the country. Last month, national Democrats added Andy Kim to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s ‘Red to Blue’ Program.

This endorsement adds to the slew of support Kim has received locally and nationally, including the Burlington County Democratic Committee, the Ocean County Democratic Committee, Senator Troy Singleton, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, Assemblyman Herb Conaway, former White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, former Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken, former Democratic Primary challenger Katherine Hartman, Burlington County Freeholders Tom Pullion and Balvir Singh, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, Rep. Pete Aguilar, Rep. Barbara Lee, Rep. Mark Takano, Rep. Ted Lieu, Rep. Joe Crowley, Teamsters Local 53, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Unite Here, J-Street, The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, End Citizens United, and Foreign Policy for America. According the latest FEC filing, Kim has raised over $600,000 from over 6,000 contributions in all 50 states.

The third Congressional district of southern New Jersey stretches from the Philadelphia suburbs to the Jersey shore. The district voted for President Obama twice and Democrats hold a party registration advantage. And Kim is listed as one of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s ‘Red to Blue’ top priorities for  2018. Andy Kim grew up in Marlton, NJ and still lives in the district with his wife, Kammy, and two young children. He previously served in Afghanistan as a strategic adviser to Generals David Petraeus and John Allen, and worked under Democrats and Republicans focused on keeping our nation safe.
