WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Criminal Justice and Counterterrorism, delivered opening remarks at the subcommittee’s “A.I. in Criminal Investigations and Prosecutions” hearing.
Booker detailed the risks AI’s recent expansion has posed in terms of biases and inaccuracies that disproportionately impact people of color during criminal investigations. Booker also highlighted that with the necessary safeguards, AI-driven technologies hold a promising future in addressing the unprecedented challenges police departments are currently facing to solve crime quickly and effectively.
